It's SHOW time!!!!

Hello there blogbuddies! Last weekend, we had a blast of a time "camping" from day to night at the Singapore Expo for the Quarterly Conformation Show, Obedience and Agility trials organized by the Singapore Kennel Club.

Sad to say, *I* once again couldn't handle the sights and sounds of a new place and failed miserably in the ring. Sigh. I feel sorry for C, I honestly do. I had really wanted to do well for her sake. She's been pretty diligent proofing me EVERYWHERE (and I mean, EVERYWHERE) on every type of surface imaginable. We even proof in the dog park and I did pretty awesome there! Now, that's a huge achievement no?!? But alas, it was just not our day. For all the proofings we did, I still went into a frenzy in the ring and got the boot from Mr Judge. Honestly, I don't even know if I am cut out for this. You smart blog readers out there, if you have any idea what's going on in my head, or what other methods to proof me, feel free to throw it this way! I know C will appreciate it heaps! :)

And since I couldn't handle A being ANYWHERE near the ring, we didn't get any lovely shot of me. I however, have some nice shots of my Sire, Magic Borderfame Online, in his Novice trials. He didn't do as well as his Human had wished (I think), but I think he was soon forgiven when he excelled in the Show Ring and nab himself the title of "Border Collie of the Year" 2 times RUNNING! ;)

That's them heeling. (I think C can only hope I have attention like that!)

In my opinion, he did really well but of course there's always room for improvement ;)

This is my pretty Sister, Mira

She did her Humans real proud by getting a 2nd placing for her Pre-Novice trial! Well DONE! :)

Tis Mickey. He's a crazy tugger!

This guy might be small, but he has a HUGE spirit! IMG_4800

He is the smallest competitor in Agility and incidentally is also a one-eyed Chihuahua. He lost his other eye to a husky :(

This handsome puppy is 5mth old Louis.

This sweet guy is Jarule. He's got multiple titles on the Show circuit.

Last but not least, this is MY girlfriend!

Her Human is mightily pleased with her as she showed marked improvement from her last trial!

Loook at how much HIGHER she cleared this jump!

So, we live through another trial.

I reckon the one bright spark that emerges from this trial is we had a visit from A's friend S. S is a very seasoned competitor in Canine Sports and his husky had been crowned Agility and Obedience Dog of the Year on different occasions. We first met S when I was training in my last trial and he came by with his Malinois Puppy during one of our proofing sessions. He was very impressed with my attention work then (which incidentally is the one thing I am lacking in the ring). He's always been a great encouragment since and kept urging C not to give up on my Obedience career. He was and still is convinced that we will make a great team once we sort out my anxiety issues. I know he is genuinely convinced that we could make it and not just trying to make C feel better.

But honestly, blogbuddies, I ain't so sure if I can ever conquer the green carpet monster. :(

Fabulous photos, as usual! Great post. Sorry about the "sights and sounds" problem. Hopefully it will work itself out in the future. Don't give up!

Regarding the "Green Monster", just a little suggestion, maybe can try training in the tennis court...

Don't give up!

Eddie

Hi Eddie,

Thanks for the tip. I don't think it's training on green surfaces specifically that gets him. More like the indoor echos, dog barkings and people walking around. He gets easily stressed and distracted.

Nevertheless, we'll try to see if we can find a tennis court to prove. Our condo does not have one unfortunately. :(
